First Grade

The first grade artists made some observational drawings of leaves. Then they outlined the leaves with black markers and painted them with metallic water colors. Next week we will finish the work. Check back then to see the finished product.

Kindergarten Artists

While other artists are finishing work these artists got out the manipulatives for exploring.

Fourth Grade

We made observational drawings of clear glass vases. Then we colored them in using flat colors to make the drawings a little stylized.

Third Grade Symmetry

The third grade artists have been studying symmetry. They created an artwork using a stencil to create three different types of symmetry. Here is what some finished work looked like.

The Machine

In the Art room students finish their work at different times. The early finishers get to work with the "manipulatives" if they want. That means they can create with the blocks, Legos and the hardware. I have found the students really love the hardware. Today my friends asked me to help them test out their imagination machine. Who was I to resist!

This Week in the Art Room

Paul Klee Goldfish

The kindergarten artists have been so busy working on their Paul Klee midnight zone creations. The artists learned all about the artist Paul Klee and they also learned all about the ocean's midnight zone. They started by creating a midnight zone on their black paper with color sticks, then they painted their goldfish on another paper. The artists had to cut out their fish and glue it to the middle of their midnight zone and finished up the work with more creative lines and shapes. I think the gold paint was the favorite part of the work.
