Random Works

We have been so busy in the art room. Here are some examples of our work:

Finished Paintings

I posted a while ago the photos of the third grade sketching from a still life I had set up. They finished the work and they turned out beautiful! See for yourself!

Thankful paintings

The first grade created paintings that were in the shape of a house. Inside the "house" was their family.  They had a lot of fun with the work and could not wait to take them home for the holiday.

Microbes!

I teach a girls STEAM club after school. We studied microbes and then created felt microbes to go on head bands, barrettes and pins. The girls were super excited to show them off to all of the other students and share their microbe story.
 Measles
Malaria

Influenza

I do not usually make things like this, but I had a class that was ahead of all the other classes on their latest project. So I saw a card that looked like this and we created it with a few changes. We salted our water color back ground. I was explaining to the students what kind of tree that was on the example and the kids hand's all shot up. Apparently there are birch trees in Mindcraft. One girl suggested that the reason we are using sheet music for the tree is that it is the bird's song.  The kids enjoyed doing this and it was a good 45 minute lesson.

Using Apps in the Art Room

The student artists had a lot of fun creating these images using the Font Candy app. I can think of many deeper applications for this app but this was their first attempt at using it. I especially like the LOL plant picture. So weird!

iPad Art Class

Here are a couple pieces made by artists in my iPad art class. We used google maps to find our homes, then we took a screen shot of the property. Then we used the app sketchbook x to flatten out any detail on the photograph. Then the image was enhanced with effects. We printed the images, cut the images and arranged them on black paper. I think these turned out really cool!

I will post the rest of the works as soon as they get finished.
